Rossmore Pre-School

Rossmore Pre-School Funded Offer

We operate a pre-school for 38 weeks of the year, excluding bank holidays and staff INSET days, as the pre-school follows the same term dates as the school. We provide early years education for children aged 3 and 4 years and accept both 15 and 30 hours of funded childcare. Additional sessions can be added for a set fee; please refer to our policy for further details.

Funded hours can be used Monday to Friday during term time only, between 8.45am and 3.15pm. We also offer wraparound care for 3 and 4 year olds, operating from 8am to 6pm.

In addition, for up to 48 weeks of the year, we outsource a holiday club, which is currently run by Full of Beans. Further information can be found on our wraparound care page.

PRESCHOOL

Our preschool offers a nurturing and vibrant environment where children feel safe, happy, and ready to learn. Following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework, we support every child to grow in confidence, independence, and curiosity.

Children are at the heart of everything we do. Through positive relationships and a play-based approach, our experienced staff create engaging learning opportunities tailored to each child. We combine child-initiated play with carefully planned adult-led activities to develop key skills and prepare children for Reception.

Our Curriculum

Our learning is organised around engaging topics throughout the year:

Autumn

  • Amazing Me! & Exploring Autumn
  • Let’s Celebrate!

Spring

  • Once Upon a Time
  • Being Super!

Summer

  • Ready, Steady, Grow!
  • Travelling Along

We also celebrate a range of national and global events, such as Diwali, Lunar New Year, Holi, World Book Day, and British Science Week, helping children learn about the wider world.

A Day in Preschool

Each day includes a balance of structured routines and free exploration:

  • Child-initiated play indoors and outdoors.
  • Group times (stories, songs, discussions).
  • Adult-led activities.
  • Snack and social time.
  • Outdoor learning in all weathers.

This balance helps children feel secure while encouraging independence and curiosity.
