Welcome to Year 3!

What we are learning this term
In the Autumn Term, we will focus on our concept driven project   ‘Does Community Define Our Identity?’ Key concepts/vocabulary we will discuss and use to drive this project are community and identitiy. In this project, we will look at our local environment studying through Art and DT. In our History we will focus on the Stone Age and how it was the beginning of civilisation.

In the Spring term, we will consider the question 'Are power and courage essential to succeed in life?'. The children study this question through subjects such as Forces in Science and looking pneumatic mechanisms in Design and Technology.

In Summer, the children study various topics such as the Shang Dynasty, Plants including humans and the continent of China. Our concept question for this term will be ‘Does the portrayal of somebody or something effect our choices?’

PE
Please read the school newsletter to see when our PE days are. Children must come into school wearing their PE kit on those days. Our school PE kit is a white polo shirt and black shorts with trainers or pumps. As the weather gets colder, the children are welcome to wear black jogging bottoms and a black jumper/their red school jumper.

Homework
Homework will be set on Friday to be completed by the following Thursday. Ideally, we would love children to read everyday and be read to as often as possible to build up their vocabulary and understanding of texts. Spellings will be set and from time-to-time with appropriate maths or further literacy set. At times, we will also set topic related homework. For example, carrying out research on Stone Age homes.
