Welcome to Year 4!

What we are learning this term
During the Autumn term, Year 4 will study 'Is everyone equal?' through the concepts of charity, poverty, community and well-being. The children will further their knwoledge of the local area whilst also looking at the issues surrounding homelessness. As part of a DT project, they will make care packages that will be given to a local charity for those in need.
In Spring, Year 4 will be thinking about the question 'Should we be influenced by power?'. They will be thinking about the concepts influence, wealth, forgiveness, and power. This will follow a theme of the Romans.
In the Summer term, the children will study the topic of Ancient Greece looking at the changes made from this period of History and considering 'Is change always a good thing?'. They will also study other influential people such as Artists and Designers that made a difference/change to the world we live in.

PE  and Swimming
Please check our school newsletter to see when our PE days are. Children should come to school wearing their PE kit on these days. Our school PE kit is a white polo shirt and black shorts with trainers or pumps. As the weather gets colder, the children are welcome to wear black jogging bottoms and a black jumper/their red school jumper.
Swimming will be on a Wednesday - please send children with their swimming kit (trunks or full swimming costume) and a towel.

Homework
Homework will be set on Friday to be completed by the following Wednesday. Ideally, we would love children to read everyday and be read to as often as possible to build up their vocabulary and understanding of texts. Spellings will be set and from time-to-time appropriate maths or further literacy set.
